Burien bike advocacy efforts gaining visibility in Olympia?

Joe Fitzgibbon who is running for State Representative in Washington's 34th district (i.e. the one that has Burien in it) was interviewed by the West Seattle Blog the other day (click here for full interview).

Not only did Joe mention the importance of bike and pedestrian transportation investments as a legislative priority, he pointed specifically to the B-Town Bike Fair as an example of the growing interest in bikes as a form of transportation.

Shucks.

Two amazing (and free) bike events in Seattle this July

Hey. Just an FYI on two really amazing events this month in Seattle. First is the Cyclefest being put on by Cascade Bicycle Club Thursday July 22nd at Magnuson Park. Kids events run from 4-7pm including a treasure hunt, adaptive cycles, bike art activities, and a kids bike parade! Later on and running until 11pm are a BMX stunt show, outdoor films and more.

And then on Saturday July 31st, New Belgium Brewery rolls their "Tour De Fat" into town for an all day family friendly extravaganza dedicated to bicycles and sustainable living. This will be held at Gasworks Park and it's apparently enough of a spectacle that you'll want to show up early to ensure you get in. Oh, and you should know that they expect you to arrive on your bike!
